UX #3: How Netflix built a GLOBAL addiction machine

Why is Netflix so hard to stop using? Netflix uses a playlist style UI to showcase content to users in their profile page. But what makes the brand so addictive, surpassing competitors like Disney+ or Amazon?

The answer is all in their unique proprietary algorithms. Netflix knows how to surface the most relevant titles that will engage a user, taking personalization very seriously while helping users discover new and interesting content. 

Netflix created a global and inclusive content listing system- where genres and subgenres are translated across languages to ensure that global titles can trend in the Top 10 shows or movies list for each country. That’s why French titles like Lupin,  Spanish titles like Money Heist and South Korean titles like Squid Games trended up in the U.S.
